On Sunday night at 6:30 PM all of the crowd at MetLife stadium in New Jersey were hyped up as the Super Bowl XLVIII was on it's way between the reigning American conference champions, the Denver Broncos, were about to face the National conference champions, the Seattle Seahawks. After a long, but one-sided game in a chilly day in New Jersey, the 82,500 people in MetLife stadium made a standing ovation as the Seattle Seahawks had won their first ever Superbowl title.

As many people describe it, it was obvious who was the Super Bowl XLVIII champions were as the Seattle Seahawks took an early lead and stayed ahead to secure their win. Even though Super Bowl XLVIII may not have been interesting as other Super Bowls, such as the last super bowl when the Ravens made a last minute controversial play to secure their win, this super bowl was still somewhat unexpected. The seahawks had a tied record with the broncos (13-3 at the beginning of the playoffs), but the underrated team had not been expected to be Super Bowl champions, especially not against the Denver Broncos, who had well known power players such as Wes Welker and Peyton Manning.
Even though few people expected the Seahawks to win, it is now obvious to many Americans why and how they won: their superior defense. The Seahawks have, inarguably, the best defense in all of the NFL, while the Broncos have the best offense. Days before the super bowl, many thought that the Broncos would be 2013 champions with offensive all-stars such as the veteran quarterback Peyton Manning, who had led the Indianapolis Colts to win the Super Bowl in 2007, and wide reciever Wes Welker. Early in the game the Seahawks superior defense had prevented the all-star team from winning, as all-star Peyton Manning (pictured below), had said that he felt overwhelmed by their defense.

Another memorable part of Super Bowl XLVIII was the half time show, where Bruno Mars performed "Treasure" during the half time break.

Some highlights of the Seattle Seahawks win was the 69 yard interception by linebacker Malcom Smith. Malcom Smith later won Super Bowl XLVIII Most Valuable Player Award. Another highlight was during the first offensive drive by the Broncos, which the seahawks managed to push back the Broncos to their own end zone, resulting in a 2 point safety for the seahawks.
